Parish Council Update
The Annual Meeting of the Parish Council
On the 14th May we had the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council, here the Chair and Vice Chair officially resign and the Council propose and vote in the Chair and Vice Chair for the coming year. Both Paul Weaver, the Chair and Derek Burrows, the Vice Chair continue in those roles. The other members of the Parish Council, Bryony Johnson, George Stephenson, Mark Hiles and Chris O'Malley are remaining on the Council.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind people of the role of a Parish Councillor. Our community is very lucky, we have a stable Council and our Councillors average age is around 45 - much younger than most Parish Councils - with varied and complimenting strengths and abilities. All of our Council members have jobs, families and outside stresses and yet they still give up their time to do their best for our Village and Community. This is not a paid role, they do this for us. I personally would like to thank them for the work they put into this and hope that villagers give them the respect they deserve - sadly this isn't always the case and it is often a thankless role.
Meet Your Council Next time you see them around the village give them a smile and remember that the Parish Council meetings are open to the public and is the appropriate time to raise any concerns or issues - or just come and see what happens! I know the whole Council would welcome you, the next meeting is on the 11th June 2026 at 7.15pm in the Reading Room.
Community Led Plan
Following the successful launch event in April, we will continue to engage with you all over the coming months before launching a complete survey in September. Look out for the suggestions box in the Barley Mow pub, just pop in any thoughts of what you love about our village as well as where you feel that improvements could be made.
You are also welcome to drop these into the post box at the Village Hall or directly into the post box at the Parish Clerk, Sarah Burrow’s house, Rowley House, Allens Lane. All and any feedback and ideas are welcomed.
