Annual Spring Clean
The annual Village Spring Clean is taking place on the 12th April 2026, volunteers are asked to meet at the Reading Room at 10.30am where the clean will be co-ordinated. All equipment will be provided, and we hope that this year will be as successful as previous years!
Annual Parish Meeting & Community-Led-Plan Launch Eevnt
Another date for your diary 22nd April 2026 for the Annual Parish Meeting where you will have an update on groups that are active within our community to see what may be of interest to you. Did you know that there is a Community Fund available for parishioners to apply for support of any event or project that is deemed to be of benefit to the community.
This evening is also when we are launching the Community-Led Plan, please come along and see how you can influence the future of our village.
This Community-Led Plan will guide the development of Upper Heyford over the next five years. It will reflect the views and aspirations of residents, businesses, and local organisations, and will provide a framework for the Parish Council to make informed decisions and to work with partner authorities.
The Plan will identify key priorities and actions to maintain the village’s character, support sustainable growth, and improve quality of life for all residents.
Upper Heyford will focus on six key objectives:
Protect the village character and heritage
Promote sustainable and locally-needed development
Enhance community facilities and wellbeing
Improve transport, connectivity, and road safety
Safeguard and enhance the natural environment
Strengthen community engagement and participation
The Parish Council will carry out consultation to ensure that all residents, local organisations, and stakeholders will have the opportunity to shape the Community-Led Plan. Consultation will aim to:
Gather evidence about community needs and aspirations
Test and refine proposed priorities and actions
Encourage inclusive and transparent participation
Support decision-making that reflects local views.
The Parish Council will use a combination of engagement approaches to ensure comprehensive input:
Community Survey A parish-wide survey will be distributed to households and made available online. It will gather quantitative and qualitative data on housing, transport, environment, facilities, and priorities for the future.
Public Meetings and Workshops Open meetings will be held to present information, discuss emerging themes, and will allow residents to provide detailed feedback.
One to One Meetings If preferred, residents will be able to pop into an open surgery for individual meetings to give input.
Stakeholder Engagement Local organisations, voluntary groups, and service providers will be invited to provide input and advice on specific issues affecting the parish.
Ongoing Representations Residents will be able to submit comments via email, post, or through engagement with Parish Councillors at any time during the consultation period..
May Day Fun Day
The next Parish Council event is the May Day Fun Day on the 3rd May from noon at the Upper Heyford Village Hall and playing fields. With traditional activities such as May Pole Dancing and Morris Dancers, there will be prizes for the best dressed May King and Queen, fairground rides, children’s games, face painting and a bouncy castle for the little ones. Egg & spoon and sack races for all ages. A bar run by the Barley Mow and a tug of war for the older ones. Plus, a farming showcase, food & craft stalls, tea & coffee, raffle. As if that wasn’t enough, we will also be featuring Stages Theatrical who will tell the story of the Upper Heyford Air Base in a unique stage performance in 3 parts throughout the day.
